Heart & Soul

I wanted to say that our hearts go out to all of the victims of the hundred of tornadoes that have struck the middle of our country over the past few days. We watch the news and keep hoping that the death toll does not continue to rise. Our hearts also go out the shooting victims up in Tempe.

I guess I'm still feeling pretty sensitive (and caffeine crazed) but with the heartache and subdued atmosphere around the household today, I was very touched by these videos that I found on YT.

The first is the vocal cover by Tiffany Alvord and The Piano Guys of One Republic's "Secrets" mixed with Beethoven.

The next is the extended instrumental by the Piano Guys with the Lyceum Philharmonic. It's super stunning and lifts my soul to see the passion and happiness coming from musicians of all ages.

I hope this brings a dose of joy into your life today too.
EDIT: Wanted to add a note because I realized today marks 2 years of blogging. : )

Hanging On

Two songs that I have been constantly listening to are Taylor Swift & The Civil Wars' "Safe and Sound" from the Hunger Games soundtrack and Jason Mraz's new "I Won't Give Up." They have helped keep me grounded and are reminding me to keep hanging in there. I need to keep believing that we can change where our lives have taken us for the better. Here are a few of my favorite covers of each, in order of how much I like them (ending with my favorite cover). Hm, that was kind of difficult narrowing it down...

Megan Nicole & Tiffany Alvord's cover of "Safe and Sound":

Madilyn Bailey's cover of "Safe and Sound":

Jeff Hendrick, Tristen Hagen, & Songs with Friends' cover of "Safe and Sound":

Savannah Outen & Jake Coco's cover of "Safe & Sound":

Madilyn Bailey's cover of "I Won't Give Up":

Jake Breune's cover of "I Won't Give Up":

Megan Lee's cover of "I Won't Give Up":

Cimorelli's cover of "I Won't Give Up":

I hope you enjoy.

Musical Interlude

Okay, that's a title I'm pretty sure that I've used before but it's there and done, lol.

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to blog about today and working on developing a headache, but then I realized that I haven't shared a music video list in a little while!

There haven't been too many songs that I've really loved lately, I've been reverting back older favorites instead. However, here are a few that I greatly enjoy.

Alex Goot's Mash-Up Cover of Katy Perry's "The One That Got Away" and Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody"
- - - - -
Elise Lieberth's Cover of Breathe Carolina's "Blackout"
- - - - -
Tiffany Alvord & Megan Nicole's Cover off Taylor Swift's "Safe and Sound" feat. The Civil Wars. This song is from the upcoming movie The Hunger Games based on the books of the same name.
- - - - -
Emily Elbert's original song "Michaelangelo". So haunting and insightful.

My Current Obsession! Adele's "Set Fire To The Rain"

Yay! I hope that you enjoy these!

030. Back To Your Regularly Scheduled Rant

I feel pretty poorly about the amount of negative I've been putting out here lately. Not my initial intention, but hey- I'm easily caught up in the moment. So let's make today a bit more fun! To start off, a video of one guy (doing a duet with himself) singing 22 popular TV theme songs! In less than 7 minutes!

Don't forget to check out his other videos as well! There's not much there, so it's not terribly hard, lol. There are also a couple more YouTube artists (mostly Asian this time. I believe they're all friends- this includes Andrew Garcia, who is currently still in the running for this season's American Idol!) that are collaborating left and right. I was going to post a few videos, but it may be easier to post links. That and I'll probably get caught up watching every single video instead if I don't, :P.

Ladies first! Kat Badar, Cathy Nguyen, Jasmine Rafael, Jenny Suk, Tiffany Alvord, and Christina Grimmie.

Then the gentlemen! Gabe Bondoc and AJ Rafael.

And some great collaborations! Gamaliel & Audrey and Nataly Dawn & Jack Conte of Pomplamoose!

Sooo many goodies! I think That's it for now, I gotta get back to crafting! <3
