Modern Twists

I've pretty much been up to the same old stuff but can report that I'm a third of the way through editing all of my blog pictures!

There are roughly over 1400 images (not including about a hundred duplicates) and I may trash a few more along the way. It sounds like a lot but it's just really tedious and I have so many more photos on my external hard drive, so that's just a sizable dent.

Anyways, I share some music I had been listening to yesterday and mentioned that I haven't fallen in love with anything new in a while. Well, I found something today and think it's amazing!

Hear me out. It's a group of young Australians who are classically trained musicians. They like to do covers of modern pop and R&B songs. A perfect combination of two of my musical loves.

I found out about the group through a new collaboration cover video they did with the R&B group, AHMIR:

I also love how they mention a ton of other YouTubers in their personal rap. I'm already subscribed to most of them!

My favorite video from Aston? I'm torn between their classical cover of La Roux's "Bulletproof":

... and their video of Coldplay's "Viva la Vida"!

They also recently did a fan-supported epic music-story video dedicated to Lady Gaga's music called "Monster Symphony." I'm just going to post the link instead because the cinematography had my heart pounding. I'm a wimp when it comes to suspense and related theatrics, lol.

Back to editing!

158. Ooh... What?

I had a couple of ideas for things to write about in today's blog entry when the SO and I were tagging along for grocery shopping earlier, I even thought about how I should jot it down in my notepad, and then I didn't. And now, I can't remember any of it. Bah! Bah bah bah. Lol.

We tagged along to get groceries, shop for furniture, fixtures, more furniture, and miscellaneous. We totally should have stayed home. XD Like ten year olds, we were bored and rolling our eyes and whispering jokes and poking at everything. What a pair, aye?

It was so hot and humid today, we could have sworn that we were going to get a really good storm, but alas. It rained some and there was lightning all around, but not that really good torrential monsoon storm that we have been dying for all season. If I could figure out how, I think I would punch the crickets that are chirping outside the window right now in their tiny little faces. It's driving me bonkers to the point of having a dull headache, but we have to keep the windows opened to have the cool air come in tonight.

I thankfully have been in quite the creative mood lately and I can't wait to start dabbling in a little of everything again. I'm at some of my happiest when I can create like mad in many ways. I think what I'm going to tackle are scrapbooking, card-making, and polymer cay-figurine sculpting. I don't know if what I do can be considered sculpting, but I'm not sure what else to call it. Lol. I still have yet to test my newly acquired used toaster oven to see how well/ unwell it bakes the clay. Clay that isn't truly clay at all. :D

I love how I haven't touched my clay in over a year and all I had to do was to play with and knead it in my hands in order to condition it. Some were still soft enough that I could just go right at it straight out of the baggies I've kept them in. I may have jumped the gun with my test sculptures, but that's okay. I was thinking about posting pictures of them, but some are critters that don't have eyes because I don't have the seed beads that I like to use on me at the time of their creation. I shall post before and after pictures once they are baked and finished. We'll see how badly I'll burn them. Hopefully not too much because they're really cute now but can smell pretty noxious if that happens, lol. :P I also figured out that working with the polymer clay eats away at the clear nail polish I've had on my fingernails. O_o Whoa. Lol.

I did manage some time to finished backing up my blog just in case anything happens to it. I'm not sure why I haven't done it along the way because doing it all at once was kinda painful, ha ha.

Oh! Light bulb! XD

Another amazing cover by AHMIR of Bruno Mars's "Just the Way You Are". So... sweet. Lol. I was listening to that almost nonstop as I was backing up my blog. Bless the SO's heart having to listening to that on repeat. I'm not sure why I remembered that I wanted to share that song but I'm glad that I did!

Hm. I think I would really like to get into the habit/ learn how to "mass"-produce cards well. A bunch of people I know have said that I should sell some of my cards in my Etsy shop and a few people have... propositioned me to make sets for them. I'm very flattered that they like my style and work enough to want more than just the one or two that I shove at them. I feel like I'm on the cusp of taking them to the next level. Not that said level is mind-blowing, but just a more polished look and style. Yes, I want it to still look handmade, but not just something I threw together (Even if I did! Ha ha!).

I need to really sit down and realistically figure out what supplies are going to be the most versatile and worth the investment this early on. Lol, I'm so picky. Despite still considering myself quite the noob with scrapbooking and card-making, I'm still diving head first into learning about tons of tools, trends, and techniques. Eh, but I do that with every and any subject I get my grubby little hands into. Rofl. Sigh, I'm still very much chewing at the bit while some would argue that I've been around the racetrack a couple times already. Or at least memorized the stadium's blueprints. Bahaha, I must be delirious tired and didn't realize it.

Late this morning, while the SO and I were waiting for the rest of the group to be ready to go on errands, we were asked if we needed/ wanted anything. The answer at the same time was "Caffeine." XD We each haven't had any in about a week and have suffered the consequences of trying to live life without. It is a sad existence indeed, lol.

... I totally lost whatever semblance of a train of thought I had because the SO mentioned something and I suddenly felt the urge to make tiny hamsters out of clay. Crap. XD I really need to write my ideas down or I'm just so useless.

Sigh, I give up. We'll try this again tomorrow. Lol <3

124. Happy Independence Day!

Okay, here's theoretically the second part to my post about Cape Canaveral from yesterday! My computer is having a bit of conniption as I'm typing this and I'm trying to convert the videos to a format that my editor will accept. It's a wonderfully jolly time. It also rains every Fourth of July here and this year was no exception. I have two lovely friends here now and we're being the amazing nerds that we are and celebrating by playing around on our laptops, lol. We're not even doing the same thing, but we're talking and listening to each other. Then laughter ensues. XD

This is part of their view from the living room!

The other side. More of a wonderful view of the water.

Ta da (again)! Here's Part Two of the kayaking adventure video that I finally managed to make!

Then we paddled all the way to the little island that I showed you yesterday!

Can you spot the Rosetta Spoonbill?

Tons of pelicans and other birds were on it too!

I think that was it from the kayaking adventure. We hung out, had a good time, and then headed out the next morning back home to South Florida. Lol, I almost forgot a whole chunk of the trip (or its pictures).

Cocoa Beach!
Beautiful, isn't it?

This is a quick shot of Sebastian Inlet.

On the way down, we stopped by Vero Beach to have lunch with an old friend of a friend before he left for Chicago. Good times. Oh wait! So, we ate at Bobby's. This is a classy restaurant with $90 bottles of wine and some fish dish that was $30 something. Guess what we all pretty much get?
Bacon Cheeseburger FTW!

After we get back on the road for the last leg of the trip, this is what we see. Another storm. Awesome. Lol.

Have I told you how much technology and I hate-love each other? It's become a ridiculous battle to upload these pictures and editing these videos. Hours upon hours of trying to make everything play nice with each other. This is after almost a week of not sleeping. I feel like someone is following me around and slowly sawing away at my joints.

Anywho, I didn't want my post on the Fourth of July to be completely unpatriotic, so I found this wonderful video from one of my favorite YouTube R&B groups. Well, they are currently, lol.

This is AHMIR doing an a capella performance of our national anthem, The Star Spangled Banner:

Just beautiful.
That is all that I can stand to work on for tonight. :( Sorry! I shall have pictures and footage of the fireworks and firecrackers that we set aflame today on tomorrow's post! There's is no way I will not scrape my eyes out with a rusty spoon if I try to stay up any longer. I must be getting old. LOL! Ugh. XD See you during that time that isn't now! <3

045. Your Daily Musical Serving

Are you ready for a heaping serving of music media? I had no idea what I was going to write about today, especially since I've been kind of spaced out all day and only ran a few errands since coming home from school. Then, I decided to check out my YouTube subscriptions and found a new fun video from one of my favorite independent artists and that lead to me discovering a couple more phenomenal YouTubers that I've totally been missing out on! So, today's going to be full of videos. I strongly encourage to frolic on over to their respective channels and discover more of their music. I'm a huge fan of covers, collaborations, and synchronized male dancing. Well, it may not really have the latter, but it's pretty darn close- so it's pretty safe to say that I'm exploding with happy as I type this. So much happy!

Ready? Set? Go!

Here's Kurt Schneider producing a video collaboration between Sam Tsui and R&B group AHMIR singing a mash-up (produced by Frank Sacramone) of "Nothin' On You" and "Hey, Soul Sister." I especially adore the latter song.

A collaboration of "The Climb" between AHMIR and David Sides. It's fairly short but still beautiful.

Another collaboration, this time of a "Baby" and "Never Let You Go" mash-up with AHMIR and J Rice (who produced the track).

Phew. I try to make my posts as link-friendly as possible. Yes, I did get a little lazy by just posting the collaborations from one channel but would love for you to explore their channels so just click on their respective names! It probably took me three times as long as it should have to post all the videos because I kept getting distracted by listening and watching more and more videos. Which inevitably leads to me jamming out and dancing in my chair, trying to sing along to covers I've never heard before while listening on my headphones, in the middle of kitchen. Lol, good times. I'm glad my WoW-playing has gotten me used to serenading complete strangers and little to no shame.

Well, I hope you enjoy those artists as much as I am right now. Time to wander off and craft to this great new (to me) music! Ciao! <3
